Youville Centre
for Young Single
Mothers and their Children

OTTAWA, Canada

Many young single mothers face a daunting combination of social, emotional and financial problems, from loneliness to lack of money for basic needs, from inadequate housing to an inability to continue a high school diploma.

Youville Centre Philosophy

Youville Centre provides an environment in which staff, volunteers and peers serve as a support system and as role models to facilitate the growth of young parents and their children in self worth, self confidence, and in the skills required to become positive, productive members of society.

  • We recognize and believe in the worth of every individual regardless of race, religion, or culture.
  • We believe all individuals have a responsibility to assist others.
  • We recognize with respect and compassionate concern the special needs of young mothers who choose life with their children and we respond to the lack of social and moral resources available to these mothers.

CND Presence

Three CND sisters, a CND novice and a CND associate are part of the life at Youville Centre. As liberating educators, they have a special concern for the liberation of women, support families, and strive to help young people become builders of their own future.
