Preparation for Assembly: Suggestions from JPIC

As we prepare for the Province Assembly, we are also journeying with the Corporate Stance and anticipating a significant year around Climate Action. We are expecting an Encyclical from Pope Francis in early July and organizing for advocacy around the U.N. Climate Conference in Paris in December.

For those wishing to include the substantive momentum of Climate Action as part of their preparation for Assembly, the JPIC Core Committee has prepared some papers as a guide and resource.  They include an overview of where we are and where we are headed in relation to Climate Action with some interesting exercises and questions for reflection.

Congratulations to Sr. Dorothy Maher

How wonderful it is when one is celebrated!!  On Friday, May 29th many gathered at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral to acknowledge and thank those who have served and continue to serve the Church of Montreal.  With several others, Dorothy Maher, CND received this year’s Monseigneur-Ignace-Bourget Diocesan Award of Merit.

For the last 28 years, Dorothy served the people of Holy Cross Parish where she initiated programs for spiritual growth and care for the impoverished and needy.   She encouraged community life within the parish so much so that the pastor described her work thus:  “I could not have had a more efficient partner in community work.” Bravo Dorothy!!!
