On Wednesday, October 11, during morning collation, Sister Ercilia Janeth Ferrera Erazo introduced the Mother house sisters and staff to the new local community leader: Sister Jeanne Bonneau.
Sister Jeanne is very familiar with the community, as she has been part of it for many years. To the sustained applause of everyone present, she stated that she was very happy to be called to continue the Mother house’s mission of hospitality, which, she stressed, would be carried out with everyone’s cooperation!
Congratulations Sister Jeanne and thank you for your service!
Sister Catherine Molloy, CND, asks: Please pray for the people of Cameroon as an on-going crisis escalates, and fear and tensions mount. A boycott of schools by parents in the English-speaking region continues, as do weekly Ghost town days. With an increase in acts of violence, a state of emergency has been declared in the region that includes Kumbo. News media report that additional military personnel are being deployed to the area as many Cameroonians at home and in the Diaspora (Europe, Africa and North America) move toward declaring the independence of Southern Cameroon on October 1st.
The Office of Mission and Ministry at Iona College is honoring Sister Kathleen Deignan, CND, and two others for their exemplary commitment to faith, justice and service at their Friday, October 13, 2017 Homecoming Reception from 7-9 pm at Thomas J. Burke Lounge, Spellman Hall.
