Did you know Canada’s first Native woman to be canonized (2012), Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, is the patron saint of ecology and environmental care? She is also patron of all who have lost their parents, of exiles, and of World Youth Day. On Tuesday, April 18, our parish community of Saint Anthony’s in Fredericton welcomed many to a special service for the blessing of a new statue of Saint Kateri. First Nations communities were well represented; a women’s group of singers and drummers took part in the celebration.
