January 12, in Montreal

More than 2000 people gathered in Montreal on January 12, to commemorate the entrance into glory of Marguerite Bourgeoys, who died and was buried here three hundred years ago.

The congregation included students and graduates of CND institutions, co-workers, relatives and friends, Associates and sisters from all over North America, and a large delegation of bishops, priests, and members of other religious communities.

What a joyful moment! The hymns, including some composed for the occasion, performed by a choir of 250 men and women religious, the graceful and meaningful liturgical dance, the powerful organ music, the magnificence of Notre Dame Basilica--all contributed to the beauty and the prayerfulness of the celebration.

It was a fitting expression of thanksgiving for a remarkable woman whose "heart is still beating" in those who are inspired by her life and nourished by her spirituality.
