JAPANESE SISTER IS A MILLENNIAL FIRST!
On
January 9th, 2000 Sister Makiko Shima pronounced her Final Vows at
Nodamachi Catholic Church in Fukushima, Japan. Makiko is probably the
first person in Japan to pronounce final vows in the new millennium!
A graduate of Sakura no Seibo junior college (a C.N.D. college here
in Fukushima), Sister Makiko first felt drawn to religious life during a
service trip to India with a group of students and teachers from the
college. At present she is teaching English in Sakura no Seibo Junior High
School in Fukushima.
