Welcome to the "peaceable school," otherwise known as Rocky Elementary School in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Here, each child is taught to recognize conflict and deal with it in a peaceable manner.

Sister Margie MacDonell, CND, School Counselor, teaches the students tools to handle conflict without violence of any sort. Conflict is a win/lose. Peaceable School is win/win.

Students are trained in conflict management and mediation teams of students resolve 90% of school yard conflicts. Small acts of peace in hallways, on the playground and in the classroom are promoted and celebrated by the school.

Sisters Margie and Cappy Peters present workshops for teachers and parents. Parents reinforce at home the peace skills learned at school.

A Peace Day celebrates the peaceable school at the end of each school year.
