WAMPUM CENTER
Bonjour! I'm Sister Marie-Laure
Simon, CND, and I'm happy to welcome you to Wampum Center.
crnv@cam.org
The Center’s name comes from "Kahswentha," a peace
agreement between the first Europeans who came to North America and
the native people. It states that neither side shall attempt to
bring or force their laws, traditions, customs, language or
spirituality on the other nation. This is shown by the 2 parallel
rows of colored beads which represent two vessels traveling on the
same white river.
Wampum Center is a place where native peoples and those of
other nations can move beyond their prejudices, accepting their
differences and looking for the connections between them.
