The CND has been present
in Central America since 1962, when five sisters were sent to Honduras. Two years later,
another community was formed in Guatemala.
At present we are 37 sisters, of whom 10 are Honduran
and 2, Guatemalan. There are 2 novices, 2 candidates, and almost 60 associates. We can be
found in the following areas: |

|
- HONDURAS
- Tegucigalpa, where there are 3 communities, including
the novitiate
- Santa Bárbara and San Luis in the department of Santa
Bárbara.
- GUATEMALA
- 2 communities in Guatemala City, of which one is the
prenovitiate
- in the department of Quezaltenango: Olintepeque and
Quezaltenango
- in the department of Huehuetenango: San Rafael La
Independencia.
- EL SALVADOR
- one community in the City of San Salvador.
Our "Latin American Region" is
characterized by great variety:
- both urban and rural areas
- a hot climate and the very cool climate of the
mountains
- diverse cultures
- even our mission, inspired by the CND charism and
guided by the same regional aims, varies according to the place and its needs always with
a view to liberating education.
New situations call for openness and creativity. Some
sisters have begun working with street children , at times even with those in gangs. We're
trying to find new ways to minister with workers and students.
So, there's much life among us! as there is in this
young and vibrant continent! Would you like to be in contact with us? We'll be happy to
respond with a real "Latino" welcome!
