"The Big Sick" is a recent romantic comedy based on the true story of the 2007 courtship of an interracial couple. Kumail, a stand-up comedian, is originally from Pakistan and Emily, a therapist, is from North Carolina. The Progress Women of Excellence Awards takes place each November.
