News from Visitation Province (Canada)

Fort Louisbourg Welcomes Congregation de Notre-Dame Volunteers on Canada Day:  On Friday, June 8th the staff at Fort Louisbourg warmly and energetically welcomed the CND volunteers. They introduced us to the staff on duty and gave a general orientation to the premises. During our walk we met some people who had already begun their summer employment and were in period costume of the persons they represented.

The day was sunny, windy but not cold. We met a teacher from PEI who had his students do an overnight stay at the fortress (teacher was Joan Marie Chaisson’s nephew). Louisbourg provides 18th century tenting experience or you can sleep inside one of the building.

The volunteers will begin on July 1st as this is the beginning of their peak season.
